Stephen Fassler - CEO

Stephen Fassler is the CEO and owner of Refurb World, Inc and has successfully managed companies since 1992. His first company, Tech Ed Networks started as a one man consulting firm delivering course on high tech network design. He expanded his services to include courseware development, managing the training equipment and managing training events with multiple instructors. Early on he expanded his services to perform technical setup at multiple tradeshows and marketing tours. Eventually a need arose to also manage the equipment between the shows and tours thus expanding the warehouse and technical services to meet these needs. The asset management and software tools developed to service these contracts allowed him to also expand into managing high volumes of used commercial IT equipment where the equipment was disassemble for parts to aid the service industry. Stephen was able to grow this contract with over a hundred employees and over 300,000 square foot facilities.

Stephen was born and raised in California and has worked in the electronic industry since 1981. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. His early career includes designing microprocessor based computers, aircraft flight simulators and avionics system. While working as a civilian engineer for the Air Force, he was the program manager in selecting and managing contractors for a six hundred million dollar contract.

He also received post-Bachelor training from U.C. Berkeley extension and received a life time technical training certificate from the California Community College chancellor. In the evenings, he taught electronic class as American River College and on-site in Intel. Recently, Stephen graduated from the Roseville Chamber Leadership class and stays involved in local community events and philanthropy activities.

Stephen is married and has three children, two in college and one in junior high school.

Aaron Karpaty - General Manager

Aaron Karpaty is General Manager and Vice President of Operations for Refurb World, Inc and has successfully lead the company through a transition of a service based company to profits from company owned inventory, purchases and sales. He manages all aspects of the operation including client relationship, the P&L, resources and sales.

Aaron has fifteen year experience in the IT Reverse Logistics Industry, with a background in harvesting parts, repair and supply chain management. He started his career in the IT business working as a technician for Express Point Technologies. After joining Comtek Computer Systems in 1999 Aaron worked his way up to supervisor of their Server Reutilization Program managing all production and customer/account management activities. Immediately after joining Tech-Ed Networks Inc in 2003, Aaron proved his organizational skills and managed the customer relationship and technical services for the asset management business. Tech Ed Networks expanded its service offering in reverse logistics and service parts warranty business. Aaron's strong relationship with the client and skillful management and understanding of the program lead to a fast growth of this business, resulting in doubling in resources and volume every year for four years. Aaron became a member of the executive staff and has been influential in strategic growth and direction of the company. In 2009 Tech Ed Networks split into two companies and Aaron was asked to join Refurb World as General Manager and Vice President of Operations.

Larry Fiore - CFO

Larry Fiore provides services as acting CFO of RefurbWorld, Inc. and is a senior finance executive who currently provides independent services to companies in the Sacramento region. The companies range from early-stage start up to mature companies.

In the course of his career, Larry has been CFO of public and private companies, including public company Objective Systems Integrators, an $80M software company. At OSI, Larry was instrumental in the turnaround of the company while increasing institutional investors and obtaining additional analyst coverage. As CFO of OSI, readied and marketed the company, working with investment bankers resulting in a $700M sale to Agilent Technologies. While at Agilent, Larry was involved with seeking additional companies for acquisition in the network management space and responsible for the finance and reporting of the Communications Management Group, with worldwide locations.

Additionally, Larry has put in place strategic plans and business models that drive companies for success.

Other experience includes finance/treasury, investor relations, planning & analysis, systems implementation, contracts negotiation/compliance, secretariat, legal, litigation, human resources and facilities; mergers and acquisitions (sell-side and buy side), and bank line-of-credit and non-traditional lender negotiations.

He started his career in "Big 4" public accounting firm.

Larry and his family reside in Roseville, CA.

Beth Fassler - Director of Human Resources

Beth Fassler is the Director of Human Resources at Refurb World and has responsibility for all HR practices and operations supporting all employees. She strives to treat all employees fairly, respectfully and properly and is focused on hiring the right people to enable Refurb World to perform at high levels in order to exceed the clients' needs.

Beth received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Human Resources from California State University, Northridge. Her early HR career started at Allstate Insurance and Kaiser Permanente. She later graduated from the Human Resources Certificate Program at California State University, Sacramento.

Mike Joy - Production/Warehouse Manager/PLM

Mike Joy is a Product Line Manager for Refurb World. Mike has eleven years experience in the IT Reverse Logistics Industry, and a degree in Computer Technology. Mike Joy began his career in the reverse logistics industry over eleven years ago at Comtek Computer Systems. Mike was a Material Control Coordinator who ran a parts recovery program for a major OEM customer. In 2004 Mike accepted a position at Tech Ed Networks, working for the IT Equipment Management Team. Soon after joining Tech Ed Networks, Mike became the Production Manager for a reutilization program that generated millions of dollars and provided end-of-life replacement parts solutions for a major OEM. In 2009 Mike joined Refurb World as a Product Line Manager, where he is currently responsible for the acquisition, sales, and profitability of various product lines.

Randy Bains - Program Manager

One of the key employees of Refurb World Inc. Randy manages our Imaging & Printing division. He brings over 20 years of experience working at Hewlett Packard Company, seven years of which were in managing Imaging & Printing products for HP's support division as a product support engineer. After HP, Randy joined Tech Ed Networks in 2007 as program manager managing new business development and product & parts repair programs. With his years of experience in IT reverse logistics, supplier & process management Randy was instrumental in defining and setting up repair, refurbishment and recertification processes for product and parts at Tech Ed Networks. In 2009 Randy joined Refurb World as product line manager; in his new role Randy handles OEM and new business development programs at Refurb World.

Away from work Randy enjoys playing golf and soccer; he was a soccer coach for over ten years with Orangevale Soccer Club.
